FEEDBACK FROM THE ALUMNI
Baybay City, Leyte. Usa ka mahinungdanon nga tipik sa ipahigayon nga accreditation sa Visayas State University (VSU) ‘ning dakbayan ang pagkuha og feedback gikan sa mga alumni niini. Partikular nga gikinahanglan ang ilang feedback sa mga programa ‘ning unibersidad, lakip na usab sa mga pagduki-duki ug sa mga kalihokan sa alumni office niini.
Hinungdan nga matud pa ni Dr. Rotacio S. Gravoso, usa sa mga Coordinators sa sponsoring batch sa 2010 VSU Grand Alumni Homecoming, nga “The forum was one of a kind and we’re so happy to have sponsored that activity because the university is required to gather feedback from the graduates and VSU was indeed very fortunate because through the said forum, the management was able to get feedback on our programs from the alumni themselves.”
Gibutyag ni Dr. Gravoso nga gikatakdang ipahigayon sa bulan sa Septyembre ‘ning tuiga ang accreditation sa VSU uban sa mga accreditors gikan sa Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACUP).
“First, naa‘y institutional accreditation where in the entire university program will be accredited and there are only two (2) SUCs sapagka karon nga anaa na niini nga estado, ang VSU ug ang Central Luzon State University (CLSU). Kon makapasar gani ‘ta sa accreditation, that would be an honor and if there is honor, the resources will follow,” dugang pa ni Gravoso.
Gipasabot ni Dr. Gravoso nga kon dili pa sa ilang gipahigayon nga forum atol sa 2010 VSU Grand Alumni Homecoming, maglisod ang adminsitrasyon sa VSU sa pagkuha sa gikinahanglan nga feedback gikan sa mga alumni niini, nga gikinahanglan kaayo sa umaabot nga AACUP accreditation. Mao man gani nga sa dihang ilang gipresentar ang maong hunahuna ngadto kang Dr. Jose L. Bacusmo, Presidente sa VSU, wala magduhaduha ang ulahi sa pagtugot niini.
Gisaysay ni Gravoso nga mahimong usa sa mga pamaagi sa pagkuha og feedback gikan sa mga alumni ang net, “Sometimes, theoretically, it’s correct. Pero, the first question is how many would have access lagi niini. Secondly, if you have access, getting into the website is one story but giving feedback is another. Kadto nga forum was very strategic, for me, kay naa na g’yud ang mga alumni and that stimulated others also to ask questions and to give feedback, kay naa may nagsugod.”
Nunot niini, gipasalamatan nilang Dr. Gravoso ug Dr. Editha Gundaya-Cagasan, ug mga kabunanan sa Sponsoring Batches ’80 ug ‘83, si Dr. Oscar B. Posas, Vice President for Academic Affairs sa VSU, gumikan sa iyang pagtuki kabahin sa “VSU’s Curricular Programs in response to Changing Climate” atol sa maong forum.
Mapasalamaton usab sila ngadto kang Dr. Roberto C. Guarte, Vice President for Administration and Finance, kinsa mituki usab kabahin sa “VSU’s Research and Infrastructure Development Programs in response to Climate Change” sa mao gihapong kalihokan.
Sa katapusan, gi-awhag ni Dr. Gravoso ang mosunod nga mga sponsoring Batches ’81 ug ’84 nga paninguhaon nga makapahigayon og mga kalihokan gawas sa Alumni Homecoming, “Plan this early and conduct little activities prior to the alumni homecoming in order for us to be able to drumbeat sa call sa alumni homecoming, Kay for example, naay amateur singing contest nga sponsored by the Alumni, that will awaken the senses of the alumni that the VSUAAAI is not only alive during the Alumni Homecoming and during graduation when we pledge our loyalty to our alma mater, but that the alumni is alive and kicking through the years!” (MMCano)
